Nine Weeks At Hammersmith

NINE WEEKS AT HAMMERSMITH.

CONCLUDING THE TALES OF A LONDON FIREMAN.
This is the third book by the author, concluding his tales of what it is like to serve at some of London’s busiest fire stations. Once again the stories are of drama. And above all the inherent humour of firemen. So that you are never quite sure whether to laugh or cry. This book also contains eight chapters on the national fire service’s nine week strike in 1977. hence its title Nine Weeks at Hammersmith. Although this was a very traumatic period for all serving firemen at the time. It would seem that the authors tendency to look on the bright side of life, shines through it. To adapt an old Chinese proverb, “If strike is inevitable lay back and enjoy it” would seem to be his motto.

The authors first book was described in an American review. ‘as the best first person account of firefighting ever!. And this his third book maintains this high standard.
